Shifter knob

How do I take the shifter knob off so I can take out the center console with a new one? This is for 1999 Grand Cherokee with Select Trac. Thanks.

it's almost impossible to get the shifter handle off.you don't need to take it off to get the console out.the console goes over the shifter.

are u tryiong to take the shifter knob for the Tranny or transfer Case.

I don't think the shifter knob for the TC comes off.

on the tranny shifter (I'm not sure about on jeeps), but just about every other vehicle there is a lil pin (C-Clip), u can pull it out with a flat head screw driver, just pry it out (if it's there).
