>>>ATTENTION!! Need Feedback!!!<<<

I was talking with Jake (aves911), the second administrator, and we were discussing if it would be beneficial to merge the Sunfire and Cavalier forums into one "J-Body" forum. We decided that it would be good to get the members' feedback. Please note that niether forum is a particularly high traffic one, so merging them would probably double the traffic, leading to many more resources.

So, do you think the Sunfire and Cavalier forums would serve better merged into a single "J-Body" forum?

Re: >>>ATTENTION!! Need Feedback!!!<<<

The reason I say no is due to the cav owners having much more aftermarket support than the sunfire owners. Also, the cars are very different from each other in the small details. Another thing, the sunfire coupe is a beast of it's own kind sharing nothing bodywise with the cav, where as the sedan is a cav with a sunfire nose. I see some arguements on the ORG about the little things all the time. so if you want to combine the sunfire/cav forums, think about this, why not combine all of the platform forums with each other. N-body's, J-body's, f-bodys, etc. in fact just have GM, then the sub catagories based on platform. same for Ford, combine all the platforms. It might make things a bit easier to find mods and parts if they are in several other cars and you didn't know it.

i dont own either so it doesnt make a HUGE difference to me, but i just want to say that you'll want to be careful merging forums like that. With all of the pride that car owners generally have for their own make/model there could be more arguments between cav and sunfire owners than helpful pieces of advice in the new form.

Re: >>>ATTENTION!! Need Feedback!!!<<<

I personally think it would cause too much confusion. People would end up forgetting to specify which one they need help with (cav/sunfire) and people with the opposite car would give them advice that wouldn't be helpful. I don't see any problem with the current setup forums if people want to go to the cavalier forums to seek help for their sunfire go right ahead. I think they should be always seperated but thats just my opinion.

Re: >>>ATTENTION!! Need Feedback!!!<<<

why not just keep both and then just make a j-body forum? keep cavi/fires apart and then just make one that is both makes both sides happy
Peace

How about instead of completely dumping all of the sunfire threads into the cavalier forum, I create a set of subforums like their are in the camaro forum for the cavalier and sunfire. These subforums would be linked together. That way we can pool all of the technical information but still have separate forums for model specific stuff.

The subforums would be:
Performance
Non-performance
Problem Diagnosis

How about a setup like that?

Re: >>>ATTENTION!! Need Feedback!!!<<<

I don't own a sunfire but as a pontiac owner I think linked sub-forums between the 2 forums would be beneficial to everyone. It would provide forum's that could be viewed and answered by the double or tripple the amount of people that would normally notice your post/thread. While having a base forum for regular discussion specific to each vehicle. I personally can't see a downside to this.
