95grand cherokee, electrical problems
I just finished installing a kenwood cd player on my own. As far as I know i did everything correct, but after i plugged everythiing in and put the negative wire back on the terminal, as soon as i put the battery back on teh brights were flashing and the security light on the dash was flashing. anyway, after that i decided to try and start it and everything turned on and and the car turned over but it doesn't stay on the engine just shuts down. any comments would be appreciated.
ps- behind the stereo is a ground wire that comes off the wiring harness and there is also one that comes straight from the car. I used the one that is factory installed. if this has anything to do with the fuses please tell me where the fuse box is. this is a friends car and i do not have the ops manual. josh |

I have a 1994 GC and have the same puzzling problems as described in many of these forums. My jeep seems to drain the battery because (what I think) is the security system. I would like to disconnect the whole security system but don't know how. Any suggestions ? I truly believe there must be a wire directly connected to the battery that has to do with the security system. Am I correct ? And can this one wire be disconnected without affecting anything else on the jeep? If so, can you tell me how to disconnect it? Thanks for any help. I am at my wits end. If I leave the jeep sit for more than a couple of days I have a dead battery. |

What XJ31 said.
![]() I usually use the key in the driver's door to disarm. |
