garage opener

I can't seem to get the remote transmitter form my 96 to get the code from my garage door opener. Does anyone have any ideas. I have an overhead garage door opener and tried their way and it doesn't work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've tried the owners manual's way and its a no go for me. So I just carry the one that came with the garage door in the car at all times.

Re: garage opener

bj96 - are you in Canada?
It makes a difference if your door opener is Canadian, the instructions are different.

Did you try new batteries in your transmitter. I could not get mine programmed, put new batteries in and it worked. I guess that even though there is plenty of signal to get the garage to open from 100 feet, it needs more signal to program the car remote from 6 inches.

There are plenty of threads that have instructions on how to program your opener depending if it is a single code or rolling code type (depending on the year of your car too..what available). If you follow the, you'll get it to work. I couldn't get it with my manual...then I used instructions I found here and it worked like a charm.

The manual suggests that they can be used for anything that's radio frequency controlled - like doors, gates and lighting systems. There's three different transmitters on the classic but I don't know of anyone using more than 1 of them.
