2000 Taurus Brake Rotors

My 2000 Taurus has 65,000 miles and the front rotors feel as though they are warped already. Has anyone else experienced this with this few of miles? Was wondering if there might be a recall or a common occurance for the year/model. I replace the pads at 50,000 and had no problem with the rotors at that point.

From your description it appears that the new pads have introduced your symptom. I replaced my rotors (1997) after about 70,000 miles. The rough pedal was not because of a warped rotor but because of material transfer from the pads to the rotor surface. The metal in the pads can wind up on the rotor and cause a rough finish. When this happens the pedal pulsates a bit when braking. The cost of a new rotor is not that expensive ($20 or so at Autozone) so it is not a big deal to replace them on occasion.

I recently replaced to rotors on my Mazda tribute after 23,000 miles because they were scored. My wife's driving habits tend to eat up pads on her cars.

I replaced my rotors at 52kmi. and the pads. My rotors were warped badly. When your pads were replaced, did you have the rotors cut? When replacing the pads and keeping the same rotors, it is always best to have them cut. That gives the pads a good chance to break in and the rotor has a better chance of not warping.

I would go for a new set of standard rotors and some performance pads.

The slotted and cross drilled rotors are fine for the ttrack but won't hold up to everyday driving.

The Cross drilled rotors will also crack.

It's your vehicle though if you want it do it.
