Is my 95 V8 Tbird Engine Toast?

Any opinions on what could be the issue? Yest my Tbird started to idle really rough and there is a metallic clicking sound. Doesn't seem to be smoking, I only since drove it a few blocks to park it. Is there a common problem with the Tbirds (98k miles)?? Any suggestions? Could it be a stuck value/lifter?

Thx for any help.

Was the sound more like a tapping or a screeching? Is your check engine light on?

If its a "clicking" and isn't really getting any louder or anything you more then likely have a valve tap, which is from allot of things, rockers, bent valve, pushrods.. everything can do it. Thats what it sounds like. Theres an easier way to tell, Take a screw driver and put the metal end on it and then the other to you ear, if it ges louder over certain points of the valve cover, its a valve tap if it stays relatively the same then you have a bottom end issue. I've never used the screw driver trick but I heard its one of the best ways if you don't have acess to a stethescope.

Top End

Hey it sounds like its on the top end.... loud tapping sound. As far as the check Engine light, I thought with a Ford they turn on at like 50K never to be solved! This is my 3rd Ford that the check Engine light has been an issue (all emissions related) so yes this one was on but for 2 emission parts I still needed to change out.

Talk about bad timing, I'm on an assignment for my employer for a year in Portland, while my garage and tools are all at home in Phoenix!!

Anyone know a good mechanic in Portland, that would take on a job like this?
