Ok my dad has a 91 4. sohc and im tryin to change the oil for about a month but am gettn nowhere. I had to buy the special wrench for the filter but i can not get the plug out i tried the bolt off kit that didnt work and i tried a 5/8 socket but that slips on but that seems to be the only one that would work any help would be cool cuz i like my chevs and do not like these fords

srry I know this post is alil old but i found it amusing that your having trouble changing the oil.
you should be able to get any filter off by hand just takes alil sweat............are you sure your turning the bolt the right way there chevy guy........ remeber righty tighty lefty loosey, LoL. gm, ford, toyota....it doesn't matter when doing such a minor job as an oilchange. alil advice get a socket that is really snug with no play and try a bigger rachet drive size. |

i can get the filter off i had to buy my dad a special filter wrench to get er off cuz apparently pennzoil and motorcraft are the same sizes but diff filter ends i am turning the bolt the rite way but i said it looks as though its shot and thats what why i got the bolt off kit the only socket that will fit is a 5/8 but since it looks rounded off im havin trouble and being as im used to my blazer having the filter up by headlights

Get a new oil pan plug and try using a pipe wrench on the plug in the pan
