87 crx alternator

i have an 87 crx and i had to replace the alternator and i got the old one out alright but this new one is goin in hard and i dont know what to do i tried everything and it wont go my last resort is to pull the engine up and i really dont feel like doin that if you guys or girls have any answers i would really like to hear them thanks much...

I had the same problem with mine. Is it hitting the upper bracket? I bent my bracket when I pulled mine out and the new one wouldn't go in. I just pulled it back straight in line and she lined right up.

it should bolt right in. I had the same problem except i used an alternator from an integra.

The best thing to do is to put your car up on jackstands, take off the driver's side tire, take the bolt out of the front driver's side engine mount while supporting the motor with a floor jack, and genlty lower the motor a little, until you can take it out. That will be your easiest method.
