how long do i need to wait?

I just adjusted my valves and put a new valve cover gasket on. How long do i need to wait to crank it up? I only used svt sealant on the ends where the ol' manual said to.

You should wait however long the tube of sealant says. Usually it's 15-30 min. I always start the car after the adjustment, the sealant on the corners is just a 2nd barrier.

Re: how long do i need to wait?

dude, u have to be very careful w/ that rtv. if u get it too much on, and any breaks loose inside, say good bye. it'll clog oil passages, oil pickup screen, and anything it can get squeezed into. the good news, if u put on half of wut the bottle recommends, u'r all good. like if it calls for 1/4" bead, put 1/8" bead. my buddy learned the hard way.

this is true to an extent, but hopefully that is what the oil filter is there to catch. granted it cant help with everything that gets into the oil

Re: how long do i need to wait?

well all oil that goes to the oil filter has to go thru the oil pump first.... like u said, u only used it at the corners, so there shouldn't be a lot, if any. the oil pickup screen will catch most of it, and there won't be enough to clog it up. i guess i shoulda mentioned, that my buddy used it on the whole sealing, and over did it. when he asked me wut was wrong, it didn't take long to see it oozing out the sides, so it musta been the same inside... it was.

yeah i forget to completely explain myself sumtimes in examples. i get too caught up in tryin to type fast. my bad
