Price for Tranny repair

I have a 2000 S-10 Blazer. The other day the service engine light came on and I noticed that the transmission wasn't shifting correctly. I took it to a garage and the ran the codes. A code of 753 (maybe PO753 is the correct way of saying it) came up. The mechanic said it was the Shift Solenoid A. So I took it to a transmission shop, they said that they could replace it for between $100-150. That includes gasket and transmission fluid replacement also.

My question is does this price seem fair or possible to low? I know, I know , why would I be complaining about something to low, just wanna make sure they are doing the right job. This is my kids usual transportation to school and etc..

Thanks for any response!

Re: Price for Tranny repair

The price seems about right from what I've heard. What exactly was the tranny doing to clue you in? The tranny soleniods are a common thing to go (PWMTCC). I do believe you can replace them yourself for around 35-40 bucks (fluid and filter included) if you're so inclined. Hopefully some other guys on here who've had the same problem will get back to you as well. I have a 2000 also but haven't had it throw any codes yet. The tranny does shift hard though, but no problems yet.

Re: Price for Tranny repair

Well first the check engine light came on, but I wasn't paying attention to the shifting at first. When I did notice the the problem it would shift sometimes and then it doesn't shift at other times, when it does shift it stays in low gear. Hubby doesn't have time to replace and I need to have fixed immediately, so was gonna take it tomorrow to have fixed.

Re: Price for Tranny repair

$150 seems fair.

And that way you have a warranty.
