Powered mirrors part operation

96 Cirrus - both mirrors will move in/out, but neither will move up/down. I'm unfamiliar with the motors inside the mirror casing, but have to assume that two being bad is unlikely, so I removed the door panel and pulled out the switch. Disassembled the switch (carefully) and could find nothing wrong. Before I buy a new switch anyway, is there something else I have overlooked? Found no bad fuzes, but will never know if a wire is broken I guess. Any suggestions out there?

Re: Powered mirrors part operation

buy/borrow volt/ohm meter and check the switch, agree unlikely both motors are bad but not impossable, do not belive up/down would be fused seperate from right/left, other option would be to access the plug from the mirror, ether check it with the meter or switch up/down wires with left/right

Re: Powered mirrors part operation

Got out my multi-tester and tried to check switch continuity, but it was kinda like showin' a wristwatch to a pig. The connector has 8 recessed pins and I didn't have enough fingers to hold everything in place while actuating the switch. Have resigned myself to buying the $40 switch but am afraid there's maybe another bad connector in the door. We'll see, and thanks for the reply.

Re: Powered mirrors part operation

Ha! Installed the new switch and the left mirror now operates full up while the right one will still only move in/out but not up/down. Hey, good enough for me as the right one doesn't have to be changed too much by different drivers and I'm only fixing the car to give to my worthless brother in law who is on unemployment. Bet there's a way to remove the glass to check out the motors and gears behind it, but I give up. 50% success is better than 0.
