1991 Stalling, shuddering, slipping, idleing high

Yes, it does and seems to do all these things. I've done some extensive research online and have gotten multiple possible solutions, although nothing definative.

Here is the issue:

When travelling at any speed the car will stall/shudder/ and-or /idle-high. Sometimes it just stalls, idles high, seems to slow down, or starts to shift gears while depressing the gas pedal, by themselves. It seems like something is mis-firing ---- a switch, wire, or something is corroded or loose.

I took it to the shop once. They had it all day, took it on numerous test runs, and had no problems what so ever (cost me $60 for that). I drive 80miles per day through backroads and would rather not be stuck somewhere. I can't take it to the shop because the check engine light rarely comes on and they would not be able to do anything.

Is there anyone out there that has a definative answer as to what this is. People are talking about it all over the internet, but no one knows for sure. If needed I can give a list of possibles, and a list of what it's not (things people have changed but the problem still exhists). I won't do that here because I'm just rambling now -- sorry.

These issues will include such things as what controls ignition and injection directly, with loss of these signals resulting in no backup. These include air flow meter, cam and crank signals, ignition signals from the module to the plugs etc. It may be possible to pull codes from the computer, allowing clues. Ray

My buick was stalling after it ran for about 45 minutes when you came to a stop it would stall.......was some electronic gadget on the transmission ....disconnected it and it runs fine

My mechanic friend unplugged that same wire for me, but to no avail. My garaage had it for about 2 weeks, changed a couple things on it, then we FINALLY found the problem --- bad computer. It has now run fine for about 8 months now.

Sp I spent about $450 for a $80 fix (used computer). Oh well, live and learn.

My 1991 buick stalls after running for 1/2 hour or so. put in gear and stalls.
Runs great when cold
