My 98 Integra was just shipped cross county and now it is making a buzzing noise when driving (not when idling or revving the engine). The noise sounds like you are sitting inside a propeller plane when you are sitting in the car. It kicks in around 30mph, but isn't audible when driving slowly. It is also audible when decelerating until the car stops. Any idea what it is? What kind of damage could have been done loading/unloading it that would cause that noise?

Re: Buzzing noise when driving
I know 2nd gens have a problem with their speedo cables rattling. you might want to check you speedo cable out. If it is your cable lube it and it should shut it up for about three to six months.

Re: Buzzing noise when driving
It also could be the fender well plastic rubbing on the tire. Something may have gotten caught on the fender while shipping and pulled it a little....does it ever stop when turning?? if so, you can tell its the front, if not check the back and make sure there isn't anything rubbing.

is it inside the car or outside? if it is inside i would check the speedo cable. if outside it could be the wheel well lining or, damn i can't exactly remember the name for it but, the rotor bearings on one of the front tires. same thing happened in my sister's jetta. sounded like a damn plane too. at about 20 mph the damn noise would get more noticable. i thought it was just her tires but, apparently it was her bearings.

Update; and another question
I took it to a shop today and they said the front passenger bearing needs to be replaced. I have heard that you should always replace them in pairs. Is that true, or just an old husband's tale?

they are trying to get more money. they have nothing to do with each other. so replacing one will not hurt the other. nor does it mean the other will go soon. its more or less a precautionary measure. like saying just in case.
