Re: 89 Probe GT

My cousin had a 91GT, it has the same engine as the 89. He dropped a J-spec FE3(I believe that's the engine code) and used a turbo from a Ford Thunderbird Turbo Coupe. I think he was pushing like 220hp without the boost cranked up to high. I'm not really sure how many lbs. he was running but anyway here's a site for everything you need to know about Probes http://forums.probetalk.com/index.php? Registration is free. I'm sure this link will help you out if you want to mod it http://forums.probetalk.com/showthread.php?t=1701023231 Hope that helps.

I have a 91GT and the only problem I have had out of it is that it goes through trannies really bad. I have had mine for about a year and I have already went through 3 trannies. Good luck.

Re: 89 Probe GT

I have a 89 probe gt the stock boost is 8psi but with a good tune up you might push 11psi because mine did. The stock motor can hold up to 16psi. this one guy told me that the car has 145hp and, cat, 195ft/lb of torque but I was not to sure of the horsepower, i think it came with 190hp. I have taken mine up 155mph on the highway. With a lighten flywheel and a n after market exhuast (2 1/2" piping from the turbo back no cat) im believe im pushing about 200hp and 220 ft/lb of torgue.
