carbon fiber

I finally have the funds to get a CF hood.
I am looking at getting just plain OEM type. I dont know why but I just love the way it looks and i need a new hood any way.

my main question though is..
can this easaly be put on. what does it take . just a wrench and a friend to help put it on.

soo...
Any one know a good company with a fair price.

Re: carbon fiber

Yeah you should just need a friend and a wrench to put it on. It should latch in the front like the regular hood. OEM for the CF hoods just means it's the OEM style, as opposed to the ones with the scoops and such. When you put it on, make sure the latch holds it down. Drive around for a week or so, and you'll know whether you need the pins or not. I know when my friend would drive his car around on the highway the thing would flap up and down like crazy, so he got hood pins to be safe.

Re: carbon fiber

yah, if your hood shakes violently get pins ASAP. I've read, heard, and been witness to a few people's CF hoods coming up and smacking the windshield on the freeway.

my personal preferance is carbon creations they have a pretty decent hood for the money also have you thought about getting a carbon kevlar hood alittle more expensive but stronger

Their products are damned near bullet proof too.
A friend of mine has a fiber images hood, and you can hit it, bend it even, and it doesn't crack like your normal cf/fiberglass hoods do.

As for the hood pins.. it all depends on how well you get it to fit. If you can shut it and latch it good with no problems, that's fine.... but if you're driving down the road and notice the hood flapping and shaking more than normal, you'll want to get hood pins just to be safe.

It is possible, depends on how secure your hood is. I'm sure if you have it bolted on tight, your latch is strong and there is a bit of weight to keep the hood down you won't need pins. But at the first sign of any violent shaking get pins.

Re: carbon fiber

I've never seen pins on a Spoon hood. I can pretty much ganrentee the quality is as good as an OEM hood. I can garentee it'll cost more too though. Food for thought.

JDM nutt...
