Here's my system…
The subs are 12" Soundstream U.S.A., dual coil, 2 ohm speakers (gotta repaint those dusty grills) ![]() Up front channels 1 & 2 are 5 ¼” Soundstream SPL mids & pivoting 1” metalic tweeters (crossovers in both doors), 2 ohm setups for each channel ![]() Channels 3 & 4 in the back seats are 6 ½” Soundstream SPL coax speakers with same 1” metalic tweeters, 2 ohms each ![]() Behind the driver’s rear quarter is a 10-disc Kenwood changer, and the amp is a bruising Soundstream Reference 705s – Measured at only 12 volts, these amps were underrated at 800 watts (when the car is running its getting between 13.6-14.4 volts). It’s a 5 channel, 100watt x 4 @ 2 ohm, 400watt x 1 @ 1 ohm. This was one of the cleanest amps you could get back in the day, high current – the sub channel (#5) was designed to be stable down to a ½ ohm load, and when properly cooled were proven to actually drive as low as a ¼ ohm load! ![]() Behind the passenger’s rear quarter is the power cell & fuse relay. There’s also a fuse under the hood where the battery connection is. I’m running an overdrive alternator pulley and between the system and MSD ignition the interior lighting and headlights often flicker when the juice is cranked. 8-guage cable runs from the battery to the amp. ![]() The setup is nearly 10 years old but it was ultra HiFi back in the day - so by todays standards I'd say its still better than most average mid range setups. Its definitely enough for me at this age.
