Finally installed Kamikaze header and exhaust
I finally finished installing my kamikaze header and magnaflow cat-back exhaust. The main problem that i had was getting the o2 sensor off. For some reason, i guess the heat welded the sensor so I had to go to autozone, yes autozone, and buy a universal sensor. I spliced the new sensor into the old one so i could use the same connector. I hope I got the wiring correct.
After starting the car up, it was fine, no SES light came on or anything. When i backed out of the driveway, and went forward, the car died down real bad like it didnt have any power. So i parked it back in the driveway and let it set there. Pulled out again and it was fine. Since it was cold outside, it just took a while for the new parts to break in a little...any comments on that? The last thing i would say is when i had a muffler welded on, the shop used some kind of screws. When we put the exhaust on i was only able to get one of the screws in which was the one close to the bumper. So believe that its hitting th rear bumper cuz of the faulty screws. Other than that, itthe car is fine and well see in about a month or two to see if it is ok. I do plan on getting a SAFC and getting it dynoed within a week or so.. |

Re: Finally installed Kamikaze header and exhaust
thanks, my ses light did come on today. i have to get the safc and have the shop install and dyno the car. itll be cheapier to get the safc off of ebay. ill post dynos when the car is fixed.
oh yea, i was a little lury about that universal o2 sensor so i ordered a new one from the dealership for 137. not bad, i was thinking it was going to be over 200.....anyway ill let you know how it goes. |

Re: Finally installed Kamikaze header and exhaust
if you do buy one off of ebay, make sure you clear all of the settings. i dont know if your shop would think of that. but you could destroy your engine if you use the settings from the previous user. you can get them brand new for like $270. that doesnt sound like a bad deal to me. you never know the quality of this kind of device when you get it off ebay

Re: Finally installed Kamikaze header and exhaust
true, i decided to buy it from they dyno shop w/installation and have them dyno it all at once. I was just wondering, is it possible to damage that cat 02 sensor for the exhaust. I accidently unbolted just one side of the cat but it didnt hit the ground that hard. so i was just wondering if it could of been damaged.
oh yea, i got my new 02 sensor in today |

Re: Finally installed Kamikaze header and exhaust
A SAFC is a device that controls your air/fuel ratio in which you can change the lean/rich out of your car. you can also change your rpm increments around to. the muffler wont set it off but the header will.
From what I understand, and I could be wrong, the only place that will be able to tune your car is a dyno shop with the SAFC. I called the closet dyno shop which is 30 mins away from me and they said I have to have one to tune the car. So in other words, if you want to dyno, you have to buy the SAFC. Maybe someone else could explain it a little better. Oh yea, if you install a new header, you might want to invest in purchasing another original o2 sensor for it. When i installed my header, the original one got welded into the factory header and i couldnt get it out. So i bought another one made for my car and put it on the day after. So that will be good to keep in mind. |

Re: Finally installed Kamikaze header and exhaust
a dyno shop is not the only place for you to tune your SAFC but its the best. some people street tune it. as in going down the street and just tuning it, which i think is not a good idea. about the o2 sensor, most earlier model eclipses would probably need to buy new sensors, but the newer model shouldnt need to. the heat from the headers is what welds them to the header
