Someone please help!!
I have a 92 integra GS with approx 85k miles. There is a strange noise coming from the front right side that sounds like chickens clucking. This happens when the car has parked for a few hours. The noise starts after I backup and turn the wheel and continues for a half mile or so. Then seems ok. Every so often the ABS light will come on and stay on until I stop driving for a day. Then it will be ok for a while. A mechanic at first thought maybe it was a cable but now thinks it could be the ABS pump. Any ideas? Would draining the brake fluid help?
Thank you!! Clueless1 p.s. I just replaced water pump, timing belt, and the engine mounts. I can't keep putting money into this car and just need it to last a bit longer. |

Hi, Firstly, many thanks to you and acuralvr for your prompt responses. I told the mechanic about your suggestion but he seems to think it has to be the pump b/c if it was hub bearings the noise would continue all the time progressively getting worse. The ABS light is intermittant and the noise seems to appear when car is cold. (I hope I am explaining this right. I tried to take notes!). He is suggesting flushing the brake fluid as a stopgap measure b/c he says the ABS pump would be $1000 for the part alone!! I can't afford that and would like to know if you think flushing would help. In the alternative, is this "hub assembly" thing a big deal and major expense? Thank you!! Clueless1 |
