Gas mileage
I have a 97 PA Ultra. I get about 28.4 - 28.5 on my 480-500, mostly rural and hilly miles to and from work per week. This is acording to the computer.
I was wondering what other people are getting on any model or year PA. |

Re: Gas mileage
hi,
well if i dont step on it to much i get 300 miles with a full tank on my 92 PA..with a little stepping on it a few times due to whipping some rice boys with civics that just dont get it that SC = power.. heheh but if i flor it often i get 10 MPG...and that beating the sh\t out of it. i know it s not economical .. but i love the car so.. deadring |

Re: Gas mileage
I recently took a 2000 mile trip to/from up sate NY from the southeast. Best mileage was just under 28mpg at an avg speed of 75-80 mph. My milegae was closer to deadrings before I replaced the SC which was making considerable noise. At today's gas prices if my mileage dropped to 10mpg, boosting it or not, I'd be looking for a different car.

Re: Gas mileage
well i have a bad tendency to step on it alot.. my SC doesn't make any noise other than normal..witht he POD filter if i floor it i do here it whine but thats normal.
the mileage aint so bad if i take off easy and be gentle with it.. but other wise.. it takes alot of energy to move a 3600 pounds vehicule that fast. so i understand why it guzzles gas when i step on it. when it idles i don't hear any wierd noise from the SC..nor the engine for that matter.. i just calculated my last highway run about 270 miles and i did 26 MPG @ 70- 75 mph with a few passing cars at 80.. oh and half of it was steep hills and very twisting road to which i could not get the cruise control on. and city which i retried here.. by doing a 60 mile city run without being agressive with it, and i did 18.5 MPG it all about attitude and how you press de pedal ![]() deadring |

Re: Gas mileage
Yeah, on my '95 Ultra (30,000 miles on Goodwrench reman engine) I've noticed that on straight highway, no stops at 60 mph it'll get around 32 mpg, maybe 33. At 75 mph, it'll get like 29 mpg. With some stops, like maybe a stoplight every 10 miles, I can get 28 mpg at 60 mph. But in traffic with lots of stoplights, it can be like 20 mpg.

Re: Gas mileage
kaspr: to get that MPG you must like.. not step on the pedal much and give it time to accelerate right?
coze like i just did 3 days of semi hard driving with stop lights and letting it idles to warm up( it's below 30F here in the morning) before i got to work and i get 11 MPG..which sux.. one thing is for sur, it's a good car.. i have a bad tendency to step on it too much, i got used to little high revving cars and can't shake the habit ![]() it's not that it's in bad shape.. new plugs, an air filter, removed the air restrictor in the intake and got a cone filter, not using AC in any means..evven for warming up the car. it's the pedal modulation thats killing me ![]() otherwise i get 28-29 on highway @ 70 mph on cruise deadring |

Yeah, I've found that circumstances play so much into gas mileage. Driving style and what roads you're on play a huge part. I used to get 21 mpg overall on average, and with adjusting driving style I figure it got me another 3-4 mpg. Another 1-3 is due to a new engine, which has gotten better since it was brand new because of the "break-in". If I'm driving on highways around the Minneapolis area, with a bunch of stop lights and some traffic jams, I'll get maybe 20 mpg. But if I'm doing my normal commute of only coming to like 3-4 complete stops over 50 miles (at 60 mph), I'll get 28-29 mpg. I've also found that keeping the speed steady has a lot to do with it. Once I developed a steady foot (or used cruise more), I saw a big difference. Stepping on it a couple of times per trip doesn't make nearly as much of an impact as having to follow someone who doesn't keep their speed constant.
