Question Neuspeed Chip???

I have an '03 1.8t GTi. Everyone says to go with GIAC or APR for the chip. Neuspeed claims to get up to 43 HP gain. Is this BS? why is APR better??

Re: Neuspeed Chip???

43 hp, less torque though than giac, i'm not exactly sure about apr. The chips very in different ways, research a little on them

Re: Neuspeed Chip???

luckily I saved my previous post:

first boost gauge, it's needed for you may encounter problems with boost in the future, it's cheap and it's needed
if you decide to install it yourself, I can help you through the process

second chip, the bang for buck, APR, Revo and GIAC are the big 3

want power?
APR, though expensive
or Revo and GIAC
GIAC has the most experience, power is also exceptional
APR has more hp and Revo has more torque, a few HP doesn't make too much of a difference but Revo has plenty more torque, which can really be felt, that's how I see it

I too went with Revo, go 3BAR first, 4BAR is not all too needed unless you have more mods, and make sure to get the 4BAR FPR if you are going 4BAR
My Revo runs GREAT, hell lotta torque (Revo is known for high torque), and absolutely ZERO surging men!!

want quality and reliability?
Neuspeed, don't know much about it, x-chip or something I guess, but it has only a decent amount of gain, nowhere as much as power gain as the ones above, but Neuspeed stuff are known to NOT push the limits but have high quality, price is in the mid. range, not too expensive, not the cheapest

want cheap ****?
Upsolute, it's by far the cheapest, like 200-300$ cheaper than those "power" chips
though you get what you pay for, I think at least 50% of Upsolute owners complain about it's performace, it sure is bang for buck, nice power gain, but it's surging problem is so horrible many Up. users regret their purchase
try using some different N75 valves or overboost kit for solving this issue
still, like I said, you get what you pay for
dig?

third, a new DV, it's a small little mod that you need, the stock DV will fail soon after you chip, get a Forge or Hyperboost DV, they'll also smooth out your boost a lil'

lastly, get some air filters if you want power, or get a CAI if you want the "WOOOSSSH" sound of the boost when you shift (aka lifting your foot off the gas)
get some K&N filters and you may have a bit more power, OR, mod your airbox, shave it, you can search and ask about it if you wanna do this
but if you want the sound, get a CAI, AEM is pretty good, they also have colours~ , the Carbonio ones are overpriced, they are the same, but they are made with carbon fiber, get them if you wanna, basically, all CAI are the same

but DON'T get short ram intake though, our car is not made for those, getting those will just give you hot air from the engine bay, make sure you get a CAI with long tube

and then you can get a new N75 valve depending on your choice of chip, with it you can get smoother delivery of boost, spike and hold a little higher, etc.

but also get a boost control valve to adjust the boost coz with a chip and a new N75, you'll probably go into limp mode in the winter

after these, you CAN say you have a little 'stage 1' car of your own, kinda

VIN.ZNT You have to be one of the most knowledgeable people on the 1.8T that I've ever seen on one of these boards inlucing Vortex. You are like the equivalent of my knowledge on modifying the VR6. Props man.

Hey Vin.ZINT I started a thread in the GTI part of this forum on how to mod a VW. I am pretty knowledgeable on the VR6 and know some about the 1.8T but you seem to be an expert on the 1.8T would you want to pipe your info for people who want to know about modding the 1.8T? I myself only know a little about the G60. I know a some about the 16valve and the 2.0 crossflow 8valve and where to look to get them modded. Would you be interested? PM me if you want.
