My new catback

Okay so i just got my exhaust in the other day so i went to chicago this weekend and installed it. I ahd a bitch ass time to get the nuts and bolts off the stock P.O.S. So i had to take it to this guy and he did it for 25 bucks and he even helped me install it. So that was awesome. So then i met this fellow DSMer and man this kid is 17 years old and he knows a lot of shit about DSM's...since 14 he says. But yea the first time i met him was saturday through this friend of mine. Hes gonna help me tune my car when i get upgrade my turbo and everything. Anyway, i drove my car home and holy shit! What a fucking difference! The response that i had on the turbo was amazing! I mean it just seems like the car gripped the road and destroyed it. I can tell there was some HP gain, but most importantly, it was the less lag that really got me. I hope it gets better when i get my cluth and DP in spring. So all in all i just wanted to tell you guys how it went. PE@ce!

Re: My new catback

the sound isnt loud at all when i have the silencer in...i was trying to take it out but man its really hard...anyway i heard having the silencer in can hurt performance? Is this true? if so ill take it out, but if not ill leave it in because it sounds so deep and real discreet like.

Re: My new catback

The silencer absolutely kills performance--it is a circle inserted in the muffler outlet that diminishes the size of the opening down to what, like 2"? So essentially, that kills your exhaust flow down to 2". Your exhaust is only as free-flowing as your biggest restriction, and a 2" opening at the end of a 3" catback means all the exhaust that is geting out after the cat gets pent up behind that silencer.

It's probably not that big of a deal now, since you still have the stock cat. That thing alone is enough to kill your exhaust flow in any catback .

Re: My new catback

yea im debating on whether getting a long downpipe, a short downpipe with a test pipe to replace the Catconverter, or just get a short downpipe and replace the cat converter with a high flow one. Any of you guys can let me know your setup? Keep in mind illinois does have emissions
