I bought a used 2001 Camry last week. It came with just two keys, no remotes. So I got on ebay and bought one. Before it got here I got the programming instructions and tried if I could put the car in programming mode. I could not. After I am done with the procedure the dorrs are supposed to cycle. They don't. I got the remote now but I believe the car does not have a factory installed RKE system.
How can I confirm that the car does not have a factory installed RKE system? May be I just have the wrong instructions. How much does it cost to get the original factory RKE system installed on my car using the dealer? Can someone other than the dealer install toyota factory RKE system? If I have to do it at the dealer can they use my remote and reduce the amount or does the kit come with remotes? Thanks. |

Re: Help with Keyless Entry
You know this site has a wonderful option of search towards the top of the page when you are looking at all Camry posts. If you do a search on “ remote programming” two pages of post will show. I am sure you’ll find some useful information.

Re: Help with Keyless Entry
The Toyota system has a red light lower left of the steering wheel. However it would be ALOT less expensive to have an aftermarket alarm/remote entry installed than going to the dealer.
