Brand new current shape stock Celica's are not electronically speed governed. Most guys are maxing out in the mid 140's (mph) on their speedo's.

Re: At what speed is the Celica Governed at?

oz, not sure about that. It SHOULD cuz theyre very similar bodies but you might need to make some minor adjustments (like ECU, sensors, engine mount locations etc.). I took a 1987 Toyota Celica GT with Pacesetter headers and ported and polished heads up to about 138MPH over a bridge (automatic tho). It could rev a whole lot higher just the wind resistance and road friction is what stopped it.

Re: At what speed is the Celica Governed at?

The spedometer in my 84 GT is broken. It reads anywhere from 10mph higher than actual at low speeds and 25-30 at higher speeds...

but it's the spedometer that's broken, my wheels are not too small. Sometimes the needle will jump around, definately just broken.

As for it's top speed I have no idea. There arent many places to try it out where you won't get nailed with police or sharp turns.

Re: At what speed is the Celica Governed at?

you can put a 5sfe (gt gts motor) but the motor mount points dont line up...shoulda be fairly esay, but for cheapre and a better motor wyou could put a 4age in it Black top or silvertop, newhere between 120 Hp to 170HP...or a 4agze 160-190 HP

those are all depending on generations and how many miles
