1996 240sx vs 1999 Imreza

What do you think is a better car impreza RS 2.5 or nissan silvia s14 with sr20det motor in it (203 hp, 205 ft/lb) Both will cost about the same. I am planing on mildly race, have fun with the car, drag race, drift with the 240. Also how much horsepower can a stock subaru handle? The block and what about the internals? Trying to decide here, any answers will be appriciated.


240 like because rwd and cheaper, great wheight distribution with a sr motor
subaru because boxter engine (love porsches) and great handling, are they as fun as rwd cars?

Boxster is actually the style of engine, btw. The Subaru, while I'd reccommend it over the Silvia, doesn't really have a Porsche engine in it (you may already know that, but just to clear it up for the noobs). If you want a racecar, get the Silvia. If you want a racecar you can still drive in the rain/snow, get the RS.

I think he thought the Subaru actually had a Boxster (as in Porsche Boxster) engine in it

No i am not a noob i know that subaru has a flat engine configuration H4 while nissan has a I4. I know a lot about cars. Prolly will go with silvia, i live in the south, always dry, no snow, think rwd would be more fun. I always wanted a s13 or s14 but my neighbor has a 300 hp impeza rs (1999) so i really liked it and decided to ask a question.

hmm, go with the 240, just because they are awsome, and somewhat underrated, plus i think it looks better, but the impreza is cool too, drive em' see what one YOU like best.

What's the oldest (and presumably cheapest) S14? Like 1995? (Because I know later-model S14's aren't going for much cheaper than a '99 RS.)

So why not consider a '95 Impreza L with an STi motor swap?

I agree 240sx`s are way cooler, much better build quality, Impreza`s become rattly as the insides are very "plasticy" and cheap. and you can get some awesome power from a 240sx with very little effort. Yes Imprexa`s are more powerfull but the 4WD system cuts alot of the advatage down, RWD 240 much more fun and alot of drifters use them, they are cheaper to buy and maintain, plus Impreza`s are as comon as muck.
