Your family has got to have a lot of money, dude.
LS1 F-body would be my choice. The gas mileage actually isn't too bad if you keep your foot out of it. They're not extremely reliable though so you don't want one unless you know stuff about cars Seville - ...heh GM Truck - Stuff wasn't built exteremely well in the late 70s. They're cool though. bad mileage, yes. Wrangler - I wouldn't know. Grand National - These things are sweet. Don't know a great deal about em though. Integra GSR - Hey, if you're looking for a good, reliable commutor car, there ya go.. Prelude - Same as Integra..go gas mileage, go. Good if you're not concerned about speed and junk like that. Land Rover - I wouldn't know. WRX - Also a very good choice. Very respectable, too. I like these. mitsu/stealth junk - I wouldn't bother. They're nice to look at, though. ZXTT - Again, cool to look at. Heard horror stories about working with em though. These are just opinions. I had nothin better to do. Anyone will tell you that the first step to picking a car is figuring out what you want to do with it. If you're gonna trash it and stuff, go for a truck, if you want comfort, go for a car. Saying you wanted a car...then you'd have to look at what you want to do with it. If you want to go fast without much money, spring for something more domestic unless you can grab a naturally fast import. If you want mileage, go for an import. From there it basically depends on how much money you have to go into it. |

My family doesn't exactly have a whole lot of money...if we did my dad wouldn't be driving a '92 Caravan. If I got a car I would like something faster than my Eclipse. The only way I think I would buy a truck is if I found a great deal on one. It's nice to get other people's opinions about other cars thanks again. |

the discovery was extremely heavy and extremely underpowered, horrible highway car.
the thing about grand nationals is its getting very hard to find one that are reasonably priced that don't have damage. They're also sort of a niche car and you'll have to learn to work on it yourself because they're not really like anything around today but they're EFI. lots of forum support on them though.

I do like the GN's and I've found some very nice ones for example 29k miles completely stock for 11k. I don't think that price is bad considering how rare they are. I've never seen one on the road but I see 10 of them for sale on Autotrader within a 50 radius.
The more I think about it the more I lean towards the LS1 F-body, but when I do that I start to think about the Seville STS for some reason. My gramma has one of these and I really like it and all but I like so many cars soooo much. |

If your into trucks the 73-87 chevy trucks are well built trucks. Obviously you can tell I have one. Seriously if you get a 2wd short bed lowered with some nice wheels and a hot small block your set. The th350 and th400 are awesome trannys and these trucks are so easy to work on.

Yeah I love those trucks...how's your gas mileage??? I'm not a big fan of 2wd trucks, I had a 454SS clone for a while and I never really like it, although it was very easy to work on and extremely reliable. For the most part the only reason I'd get a truck is for the occasional weekend run down to the Badlands in Attica, IN or in the late fall through very early spring for mudding in corn fields and creeks. Your truck is very kickass by the way.

Yeah that's what I figured. The only way I'd be able to afford that is to get the truck real cheap, which I wouldn't mind doing and then fixing it up like my friend did. He bought his '86 3/4 ton for $2500 and now has close to $9000 in aftermarket parts on it. A big part of that was the crate engine though. But lemme tell ya...it's the fastest truck I've ever been in. He's taking it to a dyno soon and I'm willing to bet he's got close to 400hp to the wheels, without the nawz.

i paid 2500 for mine....then I got a rebuilt 350 from a performance shop for 895. I'm in my truck about 4,000 (including the price of the truck) I have somewhere around the 300hp range. The 1/2 short bed stepsides are light for trucks too....it was only 3600lbs when I weighed it at the dump. Tomorrow I'm gettin my flowmaster 40's.
