2002 Automatic Door Locks

I've got a 2002 Blazer that has automatic door locks and an automatic transmission. Last week I took it to a dealer to have some warranty work done. Specifically, they replaced the window regulator in the drivers door. Prior to this, the automatic door lock system worked as (what I thought) was usuall. When placing the shifter into drive or park the doors either locked or unlocked. Also, if one of the doors was unlocked while still in drive, upon reaching 15 mph all doors would automatically lock again.

After reading the owners manual, it's my understanding that the auto lock above 15 mph should only work on a manual transmission. However, I know for a fact that it work on mine with an automatic.

The keyless entry system is programmed to unlock the drivers door with one push of the unlock button and all doors after the second.

The dealer indicates (and questioned my sanity) that this vehicle is not capable of programming for the doors to lock at 15 mph. I'm not sure if this was a fluke in my vehicles system. However, I'm 100% sure that it worked like this prior to them working on the drivers door.

I've read the a thread here entitled "2001 Blazer door lock programming" and again programmed the auto locks per the instructions. However, the doors still do not lock when the speed reaches 15 mph.

Any thoughts out there?

The dealer is trying to screw you over.

If you are going down the road and all doors lock except the one they were working on, then they screwed up and they have to fix it.

Hell a lot of autos do it, not just standard.

I guess I did'nt make it clear in my post that none of the doors lock when you reach 15 mph. They did before they worked on it but don't now. The owners manual says that that feature is only on manual transmission vehicles but I say bullshit. It worked before, it should work again.

Re: 2002 Automatic Door Locks

I have an 02 blazer automatic. It does not lock the doors at 15 mph.
My service manual also says this is only on manual transmission vehicles.

Re: Re: 2002 Automatic Door Locks

Strange thing happend this morning. Pulled up to school and unloced the doors, left the vehicle in drive and let my daughter out of the rear passenger door. After she closed the door, I drove off and at 20 mph, the doors locked.

To test it again, I unlocked the drivers door manually at the next stop. This time at 20 mph, nothing. So next stop I used the door lock button to unlock all the doors. Again at 20 mph, nothing. Third try, I unlocked all the doors, opened the drivers door, upon reaching 20, nothing. I give!!!! Maybe just a fluke in my system.

Re: 2002 Automatic Door Locks

Maybe the other keys on the keychain are somehow hitting the button on the remote? Just a thought.

Re: 2002 Automatic Door Locks

OK, after more testing during lunch I find that if you manually unlock any door other than the drivers door and open the unlocked door, once you reach 20 mph, all doors will lock again. It just doesnt work when the door you are unlocking and opening is the drivers door.
