Stalling at Low Revs and Hesitating

Ive just bought an R reg Escort 1.8 16v GTi and im having trouble with it. It appears to run fine, until you brake down to a low speed for instance at a junction and(especially when cold) it stalls. It also hesitates quite often on acceleration.
Has anyone heard of this problem before on this model?
Any ideas what it might be?
It will have to go into ford otherwise.

Re: Stalling at Low Revs and Hesitating

Unfortunantly I too have that problem. My 92 Ford Escort GT does the same thing. Once it warms up it runs fine. I've changed the fuel filter, and spark plugs. I also replace the air duct that goes from the air filter to the intake (it had a crack in it). It seemed to help a little but not much. I did find a web site but I haven't tried everything they suggest.

Just copy and paste it into your browser.

If you find anything out let me know.
