'93 JGC rearend noise
I noticed a leak last year on the inside of my rear tire. My dad and I replaced the bearings and added all new gear oil in the rear end. My rearend is getting louder and louder (roar). When we took the cover off, we noticed that the oil was really milky. My dad thought I'd been fourwheeling and water had entered..NOT the case. Even after replacing the fluid, it is once again milky looking...ANY HELP APPRECIATED, I'm afraid my rearend is going to go out on me. Thanks!

Re: '93 JGC rearend noise
That very much sounds like water contamination alright. It's getting in from somewhere. Do you add gasket maker to the rear end diff cover?
Also see my other thread down the page called " Web Info / links on differential " maybe you can find you answer there...Good Luck |

Yes. place/squeeze a small beed of gasket maker or a silicone sealant around the diff cover. Make the bead about 1/8" in diameter. That will keep that water out of the diff.
