Question 91 Explorer aftermarket remote keyless entry help

I have a 1991 explorer, and I bought a remote keyless entry/alarm. I cannot figure out the wiring setup for the door locks. I find that the center pin is (+) and when you depress the switch, it appears to send this (+) voltage to the pink wire. however, when I used a piece of wire to jump the center pin to the pink wire, it shorts (BIG spark, didn't hold it long enough to blow the fuse tho). Can someone explain what is happening when I press the switch? Or (even better) can someone tell me where the different color wires go ( +12v, ground, actuator) and/or what gets connected to what to unlock/lock. I am an electrician, and I played with the switch using my multi-meter, and appearantly Ford decided to rewrite the book on electrical thoery. Any help appreciated. Thanks.
