transmission question
I've seen quite a few threads about making an auto cavi manual, but I dont believe Ive seen this question asked before:
I currently have a 2000 automatic cavalier, now my question is, how hard would it be to get another 2000 cavi, and take the manual out of it, and put it in mine. Same question for a 95-99'. I know the 2000 would be easier most likely though. Wouldnt the 2000 be direct or is there major differences? Thanks. |

Re: transmission question
You would still have to do that same things... the engine dosn't change at all... your just puttin a new transmission in it.. and what your askin is still the same thing everyone else is askin... you can take the tranny out of an 01,00,99,98 because they are meant for the 2200 LN4.. which i am assuming you have.... but you have to realize that there needs to have another hole through the fire wall for the clutch cable, weld a mount for the clutch inside the cabin, so on and so forth.... Most people view it as not cost effective.. You'd be better off selling the car you have now and finding one with a manual transmission already in it... But if i was you, stick with what you got, or if you're going to buy another 2000 car with a manual, just to swap out tranny's and put it in your auto... thats a waste of money...Mod the automatic.. and if you have enough to buy another car, swap a 2.4 LD9 in it and turbo charge it.. you'd be alot happier!
