Changing the Engine Coolant 1995 Grand Marquis.
I tried changing the coolant tonight, it's been long overdue ( original coolant after 160 kms ). I losened the plastic wing nut or drain plug on the bottom of the rad, and also took the bottom hose off. I am concerned however that I did not get all the old stuff out. Just for safe measure I ran the ran a little while after refilling with straight water, and drained again. Any suggestions on how to drain the system as much as possible ?
Thanks in advance ! Brian. |

Re: Changing the Engine Coolant 1995 Grand Marquis.
I believe any auto parts store sells a kit which helps cycle out all the old antifreez by tapping a fitting into a heater core line if i'm not mistaken. I know that's how it is for my car.

88's right, you cut a heater hose and install the plug from the kit, run your hose and flush out the whole system. You could also do what you've done, which circulates it all around; a little old stuff will still be in there, but the majority will be new
