Hi, I've got a 97 Escort with 68k on it. When I have the brake engaged at low speeds (like rolling up to a stop sign). When I let go of the brakes the noise goes away. Any ideas what part of the brakes or wheel that could be? I was thinking maybe warped rotors, but not sure.
Thanks |

Re: 97 Escort rubbing noise when braking at low speeds
warped rotors youd feel a pulsating in the pads..
could you try to be more descriptive of the sound? location, intensity.etc.. and do you have anti lock brakes or just regular? |

I've got the anti-lock brakes, the noise is like a "wump-wump-wump", low pitched and goes away as soon as I let off the break. It's coming from the front right wheel from what I can tell. |

Could be a wheel bearing.. jack the car up and check for play on the right wheel just incase im wrong.. there shouldnt be any what so ever.. give it a quick rotaton to shouldnt be rough and shouldnt be no noise. Dont take my word for it though.. normaly the bearings last alot longer.
