'78 rotated diff.?

I bought a '78 Bronco frame with suspension and axles to go under my '64 CJ6 Jeep. Long story....here's the ?....after I got the frame home and cleaned it all up I noticed that the front axle (Dana 44 reverse cut under coils) has had the diff. rotated on the shafts. Whoever did it was a retard...the welds look like a 3 yr old did it and they didn't bother sealing all the way around. So they finished with silicone caulking!!! Is this a viable method of rotating a coiled axle?? Or did they totally screw it up and I have to find another one to replace it?

Re: '78 rotated diff.?

I dont know why anyone would need to do that to the axle. On that modle it has a reversed spiral D44. With the pinion so high why? Sounds like you may have some work ahead of you with that one.
