6 spd tranny in a 91 ls

okay heres what im trying to do.

Im trying to put a 6 speed tranny in my 91 integra ls. I raced my sister's 2003 sentra se-r and only lost by 2 car lenths and that was was the se-r spec v stock. im thinking the only way to compete with her is to drop a 6 spd tranny in to accelerate faster. she has vtec but its only good for like 800 rmps cuz it redlines so quick.

Could i use a rsx tranny and if so what all would i need. I figured rsx tranny because rsx is basically a newer faster integra,

Re: 6 spd tranny in a 91 ls

Spec v's are nice but there only like 15.5 second cars i know cause my brother had one and they suck on gas the 6th speed dont really help out..But they are nice..I would just change your tranny to a shorter or longer geared tranny or something..Dont know if a rsx will fit never heard anything on it.

Ok, I just want to make this clear for everybody.

Nissan does NOT have VTEC. You're using the acronym VTEC as if it were THE name for the type of technology used. VTEC is HONDA's acronym for Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control.

The basis of this technology is the same for all car manufacturers. Although, Honda was the first company to heavily endorse it. Nissan has it, Toyota has it and so does BMW.

You should never say anything like "Yeah, Nissan has their own VTEC, its called CVTC."

You should refer it it like "Yeah, Nissan has variable valve timing technology, its called CVTC."

It just really bugs me how everyone crossreferences VTEC to other manufacturers.

Yes, camshafts and camgears will be your best bet. Keep in mind you will need new valve springs and retainers too. Iwould suggest Crower camshafts (62403-2) is the item number for the camshafts.
