My 90 Accord seems to have some type of electrical issue as related to starting: When I turn the key in the ignition to the "ON" position, all my dashboard lights come on, stereo comes on etc., business as usual, but when I engage the clutch and proceed to turn the ignition to START the car, everything electrical in the car dies. No dash lights, no stereo, auto-seatbelts don't move, etc.. This problem persists try after try and I get nowhere. The funny thing is that the electrical will come back online after waiting 5-30 minutes, but I get the same result when I try to start the car: electrical goes dead. I just had the battery replaced TWO DAYS before this bs started to occur, so I'm wondering if the mech accidentally dislodged a wire that runs to the starter, and that is what is causing the problem. The battery is super strong - I've got full electrical BEFORE I try to turn the car over, and the two days between the new batt replacement and these starting issues, the batt cranked hard. I looked at my fuses and they look ok, but I'm thinking I might replace several of them that relate to starting anyways, just to be on the safe side. Any thoughts? Thanks. - Dave, Telluride, Colorado

99 Accord Won't Start
Did you ever get this figured out? My 99 Accord 4 cylinder did the same to me this morning, except that the lights never went out. It said I had all 4 doors open, I was in P and D4 at the same time, all other lights were on. It would turn over, but the engine wouldn't start. After 5 minutes, I went back out, tried again, and it worked normally. Any ideas?

Re: Won't Start - 90 Accord
You will need a volt to solve this one. Connect the meter across the battery and then while watching the meter try to start the car. If the voltage drops below 10v when cranking, the battery is bad. Continuing, move one of the meter leads to one of the terminals and do the same. Battery voltage should remain above 10v. Do the same on the other terminal. I suspect a bad battery or battery connection.
