has anyone ever redlined in 4th or 5th?

its not hard at all to redline in 1st and 2nd, a little harder for 3rd, but still very possible. now ive gotten to around 5500 rpms in 4th(i think) and that was when i topped it out at 116.
has anyone ever redlined in 4th and 5th?

Redlined in 5th @ about 125 mph.
Guess that's the max for mine, since the rev governor cut me off there.

Re: has anyone ever redlined in 4th or 5th?

You can redline in every gear, but its worse in 5th or the tallest gear because the engine is sustaining max rpms for a very long time since they climb very slowly.

I redlined in all gears. 4th and 5th while I was at VIR in 2002 (Virginia International Raceway) on the back straight from Oak Tree

Re: has anyone ever redlined in 4th or 5th?

i have very tall gears and no torque so getting to redline in 5th is nearly impossible without boost

I can easily bounce 4th but my speed limiter cuts 5th out around 7,000

Yeah you can say that. It's almost a 1 mile long straight. Topped out at an inaccurate 155mph in my Civic Si with 205/50x15".

But I was passed like I was standing still by a 2001 BMW M3 and a Ford F150 Lightning (supercharged and driven by a road racer). They said they hit 180mph by the next corner.

This is definitely something you should do. Do a track day or NASA HPDE:

how fast were you going into the straight? 155mph is plenty fast for me.

Well the turn before the straight is Oak Tree (#12) turn. It's basically a narrow right hand turn

Most cars (on street tires) downshift from 3rd or 4th gear to about 1st gear to pull out of turn #12. So figure we're going 25-30mph.

wow, looks like so much fun. Wish I had the cash to drop on a track day. It's like $300 at the local one here.
