Steering Binding
Hello, This is my first post so go easy on me. My 97 Mercury has 110,000 + miles on it and is in great condition. I can easily achieve over 24 mpg on a cruse. The problem that I have noticed is the stearing seems to bind. Not on just one side but to the left or right. The car drives straight as a an arrow normally however, something seems to be binding. I have checked the front end and all appears tight. The tires have not been rotated since I purchased the car.40,000 miles on them. The tire wear is perfect.Any one have any suggestions? Thanks Ken

Re: Steering Binding
What exactly do you mean by binding?? Is it a "sticking point" so you have to turn it harder, then it's ok? Or what exactly....does it clunk? A bit more detail would be good. I'd jack it up, and have someone turn the wheels while you watch underneath, see if anything is touching anything else.
