Talking Anybody got this kit yet? 1/24 Ferrari F40 Le Mans

Anybody got this kit yet? The Ferrari F40 LM.

http://www.hlj.com/scripts/hljpage.cgi?FUJ12207

I just placed an order of this kit from HLJ and I'm wondering how's the quality of the kit. From the picture it looks quite good, except for the lack of engine detail.

Speaking of the engine, does the F40 LM engine is the same with the road version? If it is different, can anybody please show a picture of it? Because if it is the same, I have 2 spare F40 engine (one is TAMIYA and the other is ITALERI) to swap with the Fujimi ones.

I've won a bid on the Italeri 1/24 F40 Le Mans kit on e-bay a year ago and it was horrible. The body is far from accurate and it is just the same Ferrari F40 kit with just the word "Le Mans" beside it.

Think about changing wheels... those seem to be taken from a Geo Metro !!!

Motor is quite the same (exteriorly speeking) except that the intercoolers and the Turbos are much bigger, the intake are very different and on the exhaust side it don't have the catalitic converter or the resonators... well, quite straight pipes ! The engine compartment is kind of "double strut braces" in comparaison of the original one. Tires are slicks and have at least 19 inches wheels... not the little wheels I see in the kit, but it's Fujimi so...They already do other aftermaket wheels so why bother to do the one with the kit alright !? You know you'll sell more if your kit have ugly wheels.

Ps... even the body of this Fujimi seem not right... lots of opening missing (nacas and loovers I count at least 7 missing) even the wing is not right... if I do a LM F40 one day, I'll start with a Tamiya... and a good Dremel !!!

I must say I like the kit personally. I am currently beginning work on it as we speak. It has a few photo-etch parts with it as well. The body looks fine if you don't really care too much about how accurate it is to the real thing. I say it looks good enough for my standards and will fit in well on the shelf of my other ferrari's. Like Martbee said though if you looking for super correct detail then this isn't the kit, but it you want a nice lemans looking ferrari I say you will love it.

I got the kit and it is alright. It ainīt no enthusiast kit. If you can get some neice decal sets to make it look more than red, itīll be alright. Fujimi did worse, I promise!

I think it's better than the Italeri ones... Basically I think the Italeri ones are repackaged F40 kits with the word Le Mans added at the packaging. Everything is the same except the Turbos and the Intercoolers (I think).

FYI, I already have two Tamiya F40's one is going to be built OOB with added etched parts and I was thinking of kit bashing the other ones with the Italeri ones (this is when I taught that the Italeri F40 LM is accurate ). Now it seems that I will have to kit bash the Tamiya and the Fujimi and do some picture searching for the missing openings and the wing.

Now I've got to look for another set of wheels...
And money for the Acu Stion extra etched parts...

That explains this kit steep price... What etch part did they give?

Sorry to tell you that this F40 is rather excellent ! this kit is a re-issue and it is the correct F40 LM. The version with more naca's is another one called F40 GTE which ran a few years later. The car can be more detailed with a photo-etched sheet coming from www.acustion.com. The engine in the kit is good enough, no need to change it nor the wheels which are the exact replica of the real ones.

Even the first F40 LM to run have a naca on the nose and this model isn't showing any in this particular place ... and yes the GTE have a lot of other air trap but came latter. And if you're talking about the wheels showing on the box... yes they are right... but the one with the kit (which I don't have but I see them in the hlj page) will need a Scaled 6 inches spacer to fit correctly !!! Not sure about the size either because the they seem a bit little. And a Lm didn't have a sliding lexan window ??? Well, I saw better scaled model than that for accuracy !!

Ho, and sorry to tell you that... the other is a F40 LM GTE !
