95 2.3L, coolant fill

I'm going to change the radiator hoses soon, but how do I refill the radiator since it doesn't have it's own cap? I know the overflow tank has a cap but will that fill up the radiator? Also, what's up with the metal insert in the middle of the lower radiator hose? Does this come with the new hose or do you reuse the old insert somehow? Thanks
