2001 Honda Civic

I have a stock 2001 Honda Civic EX. It's an automatic with the 1.7L VTEC. I have a little money to spend ($500-$600) and wanted to increase the horse power as well as improve the mileage.

Since stock civics are easier to sell later than a modified one, I want to make some modifications that keep it with as much of a stock look as possible without requiring a lot of backtracking if I decide to sell it.

I know exaust is a primary option, but honestly, I'm 32 years old and my friends are gonna make fun of me if they see that fat muffle on the back.

I was thinking of an intake system and some headers, but will this give me much of a desired effect for the money?

Thanks for any help in advance,

-The Closet Modifier

Intake, headers and exhaust will run you 1000$ easy. You wont get horses out of it but it will sound like you did. It will make the car breath better. I did alot of research before buying mine, and the best performance and sound came form the Invidia, AEM and DC 4-2-1. Which I am now getting rid of because Turbo is on the way =). Go to www.7thgencivic.com for all your 2001+ questions they are more specific then AF. There are only a few of us that bounce between that site and here for 2001+ questions.

Re: 2001 Honda Civic

i dont agree with that guy at all, intake headers and exhaust will make it sound a whole lot betterand youll get probably25-35 horsepower from the three ,most intakes claim 8-12pony increase, most headers claim5-10,and most exhaust claim8-15horse,just make sure you get name brand like k&n,aem, dcsports, greddy, invidia.
Or if you the most bang for your buck without your friends picking on your muffler get a nitrous kit ,i have a 04 civic ex ,and i found a zex nos kit for $538.this way you can have 50-75 more horse and nobody will no why.
