bad computer?

my buddie has a 91 mirage that only runs when he has the starter engaged, when you let go of the key it loses gas or spark, almost like the old dodge ballist resistor promlem, igtion switch? computer? i'm not up on these jap cars, thanks for any help!

most probably your starter coils or your starter relays. if the engine starts, the ECU or computer box is working.
