97 Grand Am starting problems! HELP
Okay here's the scenario my girlfriends 97 grand am that she bought a year ago started having starting problems one day. She said that she got in the car put in the key and tried to turn it over but nothing happenned she got no kind of sound from starter as if the starter wasn'g getting a signal from the ignition switch. She said she then began playing with the windshield wipers and then she tried again and it started now this happened about three times. Well about three or four days later she parked the car at home and when she returned to the car to attempt to start it she got nothing, well she tried the windshield trick again but didn't work this time around. So I started looking into things I was set on the steering column for the area to concentrate on but her father told her it was the starter. So I wasted time removing starter and had it tested came back good. So i then removed the steering column cover and began to remove the ignition switch from the lock cylinder. Now once I had it off I could see the contact point where the lock cylinder goes inside the ignition switch to make it turn to start but it seem push to the side not allowing it to extend out. Now I simply used a screw driver to turn ignition switch and it tries to start but found out the passlock sys is not allowing any fuel to run through system. Now what can I do to simply start the car? I figure I might have to get a new lock cylinder but want to make sure its that and not the passlock module or anything like that. Thanks for any feedback....
