wiring problem? window problem?

i have a problem with the power windows in a 93 jeep with a 4.0 6cyl it seems that the windows only work in window lock mode if you turn it to unlock the 30amp circuit breaker trips and the thing heats up big time now after further investigating it seems it has played with the charging system because it used to charge at just about 14 on the guage now im seeing it go about half way between 11 and 14 are the 2 related ? is there a way to solve this problem ? the jeep has a new battery a new alt .can anybody help or give some suggestions as to how to fix it .PLEASE

Re: wiring problem? window problem?

check for a shorted or bared wire in the doors that go to the switches mounted in the doors as they only have power when they aren't locked. as far as the charge level, mine ('92 cherokee laredo) has always charged around 13 to 14 and some fluctuation is common because of the charge level in the battery. that is controlled by the regulator and shouldn't have anything to do with the windows.

Re: Re: wiring problem? window problem?

ok was one thing to check but what i did is take the switch for the window lock and turn it around so in lock position i can use the windows as far as a bared wire i only took the drivers door off not the others .i have an idea its the right side front that is the problem . what might be the problem with my dashboard it has a problem with going out the speedometer, tach, fuel guage all go out .is there a ground wire that has come loose or is it computer related ...

Re: wiring problem? window problem?

Oh my good! I'm having somewhat the same problem.
Ok my drivr side window dos'nt go up anymore... And my power lock never did. B ut i was messing around with the passenger side and accidently broke the unlok lock switch and also found a bare red wire hanging wich i tapped off. Now that i've read this i'm going to go again and disconnect the button completly and see if mny voltage goes up and i'll also try to lock all doors to .

tach and fuel are electric, spedo may be depending on year... none of them are controlled by the computer in any case and may even be cause of a blown fuse. Not sure if yours is the same as mine, would guess so. Does your buzzer work w/ keys left in ignition or if lights left on while ign off and door open? if no, check the fuse block in spot #17 Part of it controls the instrument cluster

Re: Re: wiring problem? window problem?

ok on a 93 94 there is no speedo cable it is all wired ,and the sensor for all 3 are working fine they are all sending ,but hit a bump and the 3 go nuts ,and why would all 3 go down if 2 are seperate they are related those 3, in a newer jeep they will be controlled by the computer just like the voltage regulator is run by the computer . i am wondering if it is a common problem with a ground that gets loose and causes this ...
