I am a new 4x4 person..please help!

I bought a 1999 Z71 Ext.Cab used with 109,00 miles on it. I have never had a 4x4 before, how do I know if it works for sure? When I switch it to 4hi it does like it is supposed to...blinks then clicks then stops blinking. But how do I knoe if it is working?

you should fell a definate change in the steering of the truck like it might be a little stiffer and also you will not be able to turn as tight as if it were in 2 hi
it should be noticable in the steering though.

Put it in a sloppy mud hole....you will know if it's not working, cause you will be stuck

Also, if it is in 4 hi, and you are on dry pavement, when you turn it will feel like the truck is jumping and hoping around.
