camry acceleration shutter

Hi I own a 92 toyota camry. When I have the car in neutral it runs completely fine, but when I accelerate it's ok until I go for that extra boost. The car then makes one violent shake, the rpm's go back down and will continue to accelerate slowly. Whats wrong with my car?

Re: camry acceleration shutter

It's probably electrical. The first step would be dist. cap/wires.

Re: camry acceleration shutter

I'd say just give it a good old fashioned tune-up. Plugs, wires, dist. cap, the whole nine yards.

Re: camry acceleration shutter

I disagree. I think it is most likely a fuel pump or filter. As soon as you put extra demands on fuel supply, it craps out.
