Angry Rear Brake Lights

I am having a problem with my rear brake lights no working. The Stop bar above the back dorr lights up but, the regular brake lights do not. THe turn Signal lights work! I found a relay behind the jack door, Does this control the brakes, and Why is the top stop bar working and the taillights/brake lights not? Any Ideas? Thanks for the Help.

Mine does the same thing

In an earlier post we went over this same problem. One guy said chevy fixed it and said the problem was the multifunction switch that the blinker stalk is conected to. There is a recall on this part for other GM vehicles but not the astro.I am currently talking to my local chevy garage to see if they could change mine out under the recall eventhough the astro is not included in the recall. If I get mine resolved I'll let you know and I hope you bring this to chevy's attention also they need to ad the astro to the recall.

Rear Brake Lights

I had the same problem with the exact same symptoms(high break light worked, blinkers worked, etc) on my 2000 s-10 blazer, went online and found that this is a common problem with GM vehicles. Found out the turn signal(lever) and hazard button are all one part. Your turn signal lever may also include wiper and cruise control as well. I bought a new hazard/blinker cluster ($212.00) and installed it my self. wasn't too hard of a job but did involve taking apart the plastic covering around the steering colum and some patience. hope this helps.
