Fan not working???
For whatever reason, my heater (air) fan is not working right. It only works on its top setting, and even then it is horribly loud.
Anyone have an idea of what may cause this and or how to fix the problem? - Anthony |

I have the same problem
I started a thread last week and no one has been able to answer my issue with the fan. I was driving home and everything was fine and all the sudden the fan stopped working. If you figure it out please let me know!!

Re: Fan not working???
Dre:
Try connecting it directly from your battery just to check if it is ok. If it was working fine and just stopped maybe it got damaged. Hope this helps you out. MC.

Re: Fan not working???
The fan blower switch didn't work at all when I got my Metro from my mother-in-law. I found that the top of the switch had come loose, from its "snap" connection, and the guts of the switch apparently popped out and were lost over time. It's a cheaply made switch with a little ball bearing at the end of the control lever, that sets the lever at the various switch positions. The contacts inside the switch were also very dirty.
I got a replacement switch from ebay, cleaned the contacts, put it back together, and secured the plastic top on so it would not pop off so easily. This switch is apparently a common problem with Geo's. There is also a resistor pack somewhere that also comes in play on a few of the switch positions, but I don't know where this is located.

Re: Fan not working???
Well, does this also coincide with the loud fan? It seems as if I push on the fan casing, it gets a little lower in sound.
Also, I do not have the chiltons for the car (I should get one, I know). If anyone is willing to help. How would I go about getting to that part of the switch? I took off the face plate, but I don't see how I can get behind to where the switch makes its contacts, therefore I cannot tell if the switch is bad or not. I am very ignorant when it comes to this stuff and I do apprectiate all the help so far. - Anthony |

Chilton
I have the Chilton and it stinks for the blower fan/motor. I suggest going to your local library and getting a Haynes one. It's more descriptive.

Let me know if you need parts
I am parting out my Metro and have parts for sale on Ebay. If you need something that you don't see, let me know. Here is a starting point http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...e=STRK:MESE:IT
Then "View seller's other items" |
