having trouble with 2000 dodge stratus
I am college student and i just bought a used dodge stratus 2000. the check engine came on so i checked it with the OBDII and got a P0455 code which stands for a Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected (gross leak) I wanted to know if anyone knew what kind of problem this is and how it can be fixed. i also wanted to know if i should still drive my car with the check engine light on. Thanks

Re: having trouble with 2000 dodge stratus
The gas system is designed as a sealed pressurized system. Gas flows from the tank to the fuel rail on the engine. Excess gas and vapor recovery also flows back to the tank.
If no leak is evident in the hoses, check the gas cap on the tank. It's part of and should seal the system. It should have an inrush of air when you open it. |
