2000 galant swap details

i just recently picked up a 2000 galant es with an i4. ive read that u could swap engines with some of the earlier? models of eclipse engines. does anyone know which ones that would be. i cant rememeber if its 3g63 or 4g64 or if was either of them. if someone could lead me into the right direction. ps- i also know/heard its not very cost effective to do a swap, and that its better to build up the stock engine, but i can get my hands on the parts fairly easy cause my uncle works at a junkyard and my dads a mechanic. so im pretty set there. thanks in advance

Re: 2000 galant swap details

To begin with you got a 4G64 SOHC in your car. What you heard of swaping a earlier eclipse motor (4G63T) isn't all correct. you can swap a earlier eclipse motor with a 7gen galamt (94-98) Then the positioning of the motor does a 180 on the 99-2003 Galants, but the 4G63T motor off of a lancer evolution 4-8 will fit so you'd have to look for a 4G63t out of a evo 4,5,6,7,or 8
