Re: 2000gt vs Probe gt

i believe the eclipse would win. when my GT was stock, i raced an auto probe GT with exhaust and intake. i dogged him by like 4 car lengths. i dont believe a stock 5 speed would be that much faster than an auto with mods.

I used to have a 5spd 97 PGT, was a nice car with handeling that the Eclipse GT cannot come close to so dont race it in the twisties. Drag race and you will edge him out, most 5spd PGT's run 15.7-15.8 in the 1/4. The auto PGT was much slower, it was in the 17's for the 1/4.

Re: 2000gt vs Probe gt

i just figured having an automatic with an intake and exhaust would make it run a little closer to what a stock 5 speed would run. but if the eclipse has a bad driver, then the probe could win

Yeah the auto PGT's were just dogs man, not nearly as fast as the 5speeds. Another down fall of the PGT is the fact that bolt on mods do little to nothing for gains, in some cases PGT's have actually dynoed lower when equiped with aftermarket intake and exhaust.

Was it a 5spd??? cause if it was then he must just be a bad driver, I could definently see you smoking a auto PGT by that much. Go over to www.probetalk.com if you want to see a bunch of BS kill stories, these guys are in total denial of why they even stopped making the PGT.

Re: 2000gt vs Probe gt

nope it didn't go, man he's making it a show car and this probe ACTUALLY LOOKS GOOD!! i raced him tonight 3-4 times once from dead stop (won half a car), all the others from rolls, where we just waited to match up on getting on it and held REALLY even, he put a hi-flow and muffler on....that last turn though, we both about lost it and the stoplight after where we stopped racing, there was an accident at about the time we would have been speeding through there...i have really dumb luck

i'm still figuring out how to launch good too i launched 2k slipping a lil bit

The PGT suprised you didnt it? unfortunatly alot of people underestimate that car just like the Eclipse GT and GTS gets underestimated. One thing about the PGT is the handeling! that car will holds its on in the twisties if not out perform the current generation of sports coupes.

It has a ford badge but that car is all mazda inside. It is the same thing as the Mazda MX6, the only diff with the PGT is the better suspension and wider tires.
